Last weekend we went to a local baby store and picked out a crib for our little boy. Unfortunately it was sold when my FIL called to order it thus we need to wait for 8-12 weeks for it to arrive. Thank goodness we have a hand-me-down bassinet for backup. It’s a Sorelle Rita crib in Natural color. We both loved it. I can’t help imagining my baby boy being in it. How sweet and how cute!!!

Thanks to the modern technology. I’ve been getting so much information about birth defects on Internet and I started getting so worried. I talked to nurse Vickie on the phone on Monday. She reassured me that they checked everything at my big u/s and everything looked great. However, I was so obsessed and called again on Wednesday to talk to Dr. A. She told me at my big u/s they did check baby’s brain and spine for any possible birth defects and there wasn’t any soft marker, neither lemon sign nor banana sign. My baby was doing great. She told me u/s can detect up to 95% of the Neural Tube Defects. The reason they didn’t offer me AFP blood test was because they believe nuchal translucency combined blood work (free-HCG and PAPP-A) in the first trimester along with the big u/s in the second trimester is more accurate than AFP and decreases the chance of false positive result. I also asked if she will be the one taking care of the cyst after delivery. She said I can request any doctor to do it and she definitely can do it for me.

After talking to Dr. A, I do feel much better. I talked to MIL in the evening yesterday and told her I’ve had so much worries. She said it’s good to be reasonably worried because my body is trying to tell me to be more vigilant in order to protect the baby. However, for the things that are out of my control, I should leave it in God’s hand and have belief that everything is going to be fine. Thus, I am trying to stay calm and positive while sincerely praying to God for blessings on our precious little one.

Something more cheerful: 2 weeks and I’ll be in my third trimester. YA!!
