trying to talk, playing with his reflection, picnic, etc.
by Photobug Mom ~ March 27th, 2007. Filed under: Cyrus' growth.I know it’s still early for Cyrus to actually learn to talk. He is just making noises at this stage. Starting last week, he’s started making totally different sounds. They are like “dadada” or “dia dia dia.” They also seem like a sentence. Both me and DH are very excited about this new development. Though he may still be too young to understand, we told him I’m “mama” and he’s “dada.” He looks so cute when he was “talking.”
A few days ago, Cyrus somehow managed to roll himself next to my piano. He saw his own reflection on the piano and started interacting with it. It was so interesting so I taped it. What’s curious is that he wouldn’t show the same interests if I hold him standing in front of a mirror.
On that note, I am thinking he should be old enough to understand that his not being able to see something doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Last night, I was nursing him on the couch while DH was watching TV. He turned and wanted to see it. I put my hand in front of his eyes to block the view and he would push my hand away every time. It’s amazing how babies learn so fast.
The weather was relatively nice last Sunday. We took Cyrus out to a pretty cemetery nearby to have a picnic. I finally got to use the booster seat my friend got me. It worked great. I could set him down and feed him. There were many ducks and geese there and Cyrus was taking them all in. Even though it’s a little bit windy and chilly, we had a great time.
Although I’m pretty much breastfeeding exclusively, I use a bottle to measure when I mix formula with cereal for Cyrus in the morning. I’ve just read in a book that some plastic bottles would leak toxic chemical into food and the better choices are opaque or glass bottles. There is no specific data showing how it’s affecting the human babies but I don’t want to take the risk. I was using Avent before and have switched to Evenflo colored bottles. Here is an article about toxic plastic and some alternatives. Hope it helps.
