8 months old
by Photobug Mom ~ April 11th, 2007. Filed under: Cyrus' growth. My little Cyrus is eight months old. He is growing up too fast!! I can’t believe he is wearing 12 months old clothes already. I just packed away his mobile a couple weeks ago and it made me feel a little bit sad. I miss those days when he was so tiny.
Cyrus has been eating different things these days. I am adding more and more varieties into his diet. In the morning I give him some whole grain oat cereal and some fruit. He’s tried cantaloupe, apples, pears, peaches, bananas, and plums. I think he likes pears most. I started offering him yogurt yesterday. I bought the organic plain yogurt since I can always add fruits to it according to my preference.
I also offer him different stuff through out the day. He’s had green beans, winter squash, yam, broccoli, spinach, tofu, and chicken. People who’ve seen him eating, my MIL and my husband’s aunt, have said that he is a good eater. He’s not a fussy eater, that’s for sure. I am glad. Oh, he can eat frozen bagels and rice cakes on his own too. He seems to like the idea of feeding himself. It’s win-win because I finally can sit down and finish my dinner without having to pick him up and entertain him. I was trying to find whole wheat bagels but I could only find honey wheat ones. I thought you are not supposed to give babies under one honey. Obviously honey wheat bagels are okay, according to the nurse at his pediatrician. I’ve tried to buy organic produce and meat as well. They are a little bit more expensive but my baby’s health is more important than anything!
He is pretty much able to fall asleep on his own now. Sometimes he will fuss for a few minutes before he falls asleep. Once in a great while he will cry and scream for half an hour but it’s very rare. I’ve noticed TIMING is the key. If I put him down when he is drowsy and not over-tired, he can fall asleep without getting cranky. He naps twice during the day and goes to bed around nine. If I put him down too early, he will scream for a long time. We are still doing the night feeding. He would nurse two to three times between nine and seven. Most of time I’ll let him sleep with me after the night feeding so I can get some sleep. He hasn’t got any tooth so I don’t need to worry about it just yet.
His favorite toy now is a set of stacking cups made by Tolo Toys. He hasn’t understood the idea of stacking them up but he likes to carry them with him everywhere he goes. DH and I both felt he looks like a magician with magic cups!!
We are hoping to make a trip to a toy store to find a couple of BIG toys for him. As you can see from the video below, he loves to bang on my piano.
He can’t crawl just yet but he sure is working on it. He actually can get to go place he wants to go by rolling himself. We’ve started baby proofing but there are more to be done!
The weather is finally getting warmer. I’ve been organizing his clothes and browsing the Internet to see if I can find some used clothes at a bargain.
