Off we explore the world
by Photobug Mom ~ April 27th, 2007. Filed under: Cyrus' growth. For the past couple weeks, Cyrus’ motor skills have improved greatly. He started out by moving forward very slowly and tumbled once a while. Now he can crawl quite fast and get to wherever he wants to be. We bought a thing called SuperYard to keep him confined but he somehow is able to find the way out if we don’t close it all the way. It’s amazing how fast they learn.
This morning I put him in the crib for his naptime. After a few minutes I took a peak and saw him sitting up staring out of the window. He was lying down when I put him down. He sat up all by himself. He also likes to hang onto something and tries to stand up. I could tell he loves to stand up and look at the world from a different perspective. He always grins when he does that.
Now that he is able to move around in the house, we need to be much more vigilant. He is especially attracted to books, our slippers, and electrical cords. We bought some baby proofing stuff the other day but not enough. I wanted to get a gate to block his access to the bathroom and kitchen, where most of the hazardous things are. We are also worried about the lead issue since our house is quite old and some paint is chipping. I need to clean and vacuum more extensively that’s for sure.
I also want to make notes on his making new sounds. He’s been making “na na na” sound, even “ma ma” sound for a couple of times. I’ve read babies at his age start to differentiate Mama and Dada and be able to call the right person the right name. He doesn’t seem to do it yet but I am looking forward to it.
