Journey with You

Cyrus is 10 months and 3 days old, to be precise, today. It’s been a while since my last journal entry. Been keeping myself busy with learning Photoshop and photography as well as building my own website.

DH and I are both thinking I should start doing job hunt. We feel Cyrus is old enough to handle being in a daycare. DH is not crazy about his job and would like to get out of it but we can’t afford having no steady income and health insurance.

I’ve always wanted to be a career woman. Nevertheless, I’ve found myself enjoying, more than I thought I would, spending time with Cyrus and doing things I like, such as photography, at the side. There are times when Cyrus is being difficult, I wish I was working or out somewhere. But overall, I kind of hate to send him to a daycare.

My short-term goal is to find an accounting job, part-time or full-time, then start saving some money. In the long run, I am hoping I can quit the day job and earn a living by doing photography. I would to be my own boss and have the flexibility of scheduling my time according to my child’s needs.

DH has been supporting Cyrus and me for the past 10 months. I am grateful. Though I’m not quite sure about going back to work, I think I am starting job hunt soon. Watching me doing photography and related stuff on the computer, he sometimes complains that I live in a dream world. I don’t think there is anything wrong to pursue a dream but I can understand where he is coming from. He is frustrated himself, with his job mainly.

Back to Cyrus. He’s been all over the place these days. He crawls very fast. It takes me a good 5 to 10 minutes to change his diaper because he always crawls away on me. He likes to play with doors and drawers. He likes pull himself to stand by holding on to tables, dressers, chairs, and boxes. He can let go and stand on his own for about ten seconds. He can walk if we hold his hands. I can’t wait to see his first step!! His big thing now is get every onto the floor. One time I left his dirty bowl on the edge of the dining room table and he managed to grab it and made a mess out of it. He can also reaching the piano keys and playing with them.

I’ve been feeding Cyrus almost everything. He is getting better at chewing things. I’ve offered him cheerios and he loves bagels. I used to need to cook peaches for him. Now he can handle it just like we do. He likes bananas too. He is not too good at watermelon and melon. He only wants the juice and doesn’t want to have anything to do with the pulp. He would spit it out. I also let him tried pan-fried tilapias a couple times and he seems to be okay with it.

My friend Traci and her daughter Ruby came over last Saturday. We had a great time. Two babies were playing while grownups enjoyed the lunch. It’s so neat to see them playing together. Cyrus even tried to give Ruby a kiss. That was something! I hope Traci didn’t mind.

Cyrus hasn’t been able to sleep for a good 6-7 hours at night but he can go about 5 hours. I put him to bed at around 9:30pm and he usually doesn’t wake up until 1:30am or 2am. I’ll feed him and put him back to the crib. He will wake up again around 4 or 5am but I let him sooth himself this time and feed him again if he wakes up after 6am. It’s not perfect but I sure get a lot more sleep than ever. I am happy about it.

Cyrus’ hair was getting so long so we decided to cut the front part so the hair doesn’t get in his eyes. DH was actually the one cutting while I was holding him down. It was going pretty well in the beginning but then DH accidentally cut one part too short and it was too late. Thank goodness that Cyrus is too young to mind it. Here is the picture.

Back to myself again. I’ve been having a lot of creamy/watery discharge for a couple of weeks now. This is a new thing and I’m wondering if it’s a sign that I’m fertile again or will be soon. I feel a little bit excited because of this. I really hope I can get pregnant without weaning Cyrus.
