It’s been a LONG time since I last updated here. Life has been quite crazy since I started working. I barely have time to do anything for myself. That’s just how it is for a working mom, I guess.

I feel I’ve been missing out on lots of Cyrus’ developments. Unlike before, I don’t get to spend much time with him now. He is at day care most of the day and DH picks him up late afternoon. He takes a nap in the evening and I’ll feed him dinner when he wakes up. I only get to spend the few hours in the evening with him. I love being able to make money but I also miss being with my son. I wish I could know what he does all day at day care.

He’s been responding to some of our simple commands. He will run toward me as soon as I say “Let mommy nurse you.” One night he was playing with his toy piano and I said “Let’s go to bed. It’s bed time.” He stopped and came to have me brought him to his bedroom. He also listens to command such as “Can you pick that up and give it to me?” He is definitely much better in terms of not throwing food on the floor. If he doesn’t want to eat something, he usually leaves it on the tray or hands it over to us.

I am actually pretty impressed with how much he understands even though he can’t really respond in words. Other than “lights” in Mandarin, he’s been trying to imitate what we are teaching him, such as door, light, poo, car. Most of time it’s still hard to understand his pronunciation but I am not too concerned. I am sure he will get there.

I haven’t been able to take as many pictures of him as I like after I started working. I sent his photos to two baby photo contests. We’ll see what happened. :)

One of the good things about sending him to a day care is that they kind of helped us figure out some food that he likes. He’s finally eating some stuff other than crackers and bread. He would eat turkey dogs as well as fish sticks. He loves shrimps. He also eats ravioli. Not so good as for vegetables though. I made a giant pot of paella with sausages, shrimps, and various kind of veggies in it the other day. He actually ate a big bowl of it last night. What a relief! We’ve realized that it’s better not give him any suggestions of breastfeeding before we feed him. Last night I was going to try to feed him on my lap but he thought I was going to nurse him and got SO upset when I didn’t. It took me a long time to calm him down from that. Whew!

The winter is on its way. Cyrus hates getting dressed for some strange reasons. It always takes me forever to get him changed and dressed in the morning. It’s no fun. I used to enjoy winter a lot, especially the snow but I am not quite looking forward to it now to be honest. We got him a snow suit over the weekend but still need to buy a pair of boots. I think I am going to buy them from LLBean. My MIL claims they make pretty good boots. Boots we saw at the baby store all have really hard bottom and we feel it’s not good for his walking.

My mother-in-law recently fell down on her drive way and broke her arm. She said she wouldn’t have hurt so badly if she didn’t have osteoporosis. I all a sudden realized I should have a routine exercise as well no matter how busy I am with work or family. Health should be the number 1 priority! So I signed up with a local athletic club and am starting going there regularly. They have all kinds of different equipment as well as various lesson on aerobics. I don’t have a definite day every week to go there; I am playing it by ear instead. DH needs to watch Cyrus when I go to the GYM. I actually can take him with me if I need to because they have a day care there. They would watch Cyrus for me for a cost of $1.5 an hour.
