3 months at day care
Saturday, December 15th, 2007Cyrus is 16 months now and he’s been at the day care for 3 months. Time seems to go so fast especially when I am so busy at work. I definitely don’t spend as much time being with Cyrus as the time I was a stay home mom.
I love my job and I love being a professional and making money. I love being able to spend some money on myself and don’t need to feel guilty. But I do realize everything comes with a price. I also realize that no job is harder than being a stay home mom: no pay and 24/7. I truly admire people like Alice who is willing to give up everything for her children. Their children are really lucky!
The price we pay for me to go to work is less sleep for Cyrus, less time with mom and dad, and more sickness. For the past three months, Cyrus has been mildly sick, such as a running nose, for about 2/3 of the time. It’s getting really maddening. He’s had ear infection twice. The first time it went away pretty quickly but the second time wasn’t as easy. He was so tired and cranky at the day care that Sharon needed to call us. DH took him to the doctor and stayed at home with him for two days. It didn’t get worse so we didn’t give him any medication but staying at home and being with his dad seemed to help A LOT.
That’s it. Children get sick more easily not just because of the germs they are exposed to but also because they don’t get as much care and attention from their parents. Children need to be loved and be around their parents. Realizing this I am so glad I decided to stay home with him for the first year!
