Lilypie Fourth Birthday tickers Lilypie 1st Birthday Ticker

big update

by Photobug Mom ~ January 6th, 2008. Filed under: Cyrus' growth.

I can’t believe I haven’t updated for so long. Holidays kind of threw everything off a bit.

We have a nice Christmas and New year. My father- and brother-in-law came to our house for Christmas eve dinner. I had to work half day that day so we didn’t start the dinner until five thirty. DH and I had a huge argument over cooking issue and I almost wawn’t going to have dinner with them. Thank goodness everything was okay in the end.

After dinner we exchanged gifts since we’re not going to see my father-in-law on Christmas day. Cyrus got his first piggy bank and we put his twenty dollar from grandda in it. It’s more like a toy for him right now than a savings bank. :b

The dinner was nice but doing dishes all by myself after everyone left wasn’t fun at all. I wish we had a dishwasher…

DH and I exchanged gifts and gave Cyrus the gifts we bought for him on Christmas morning. He also got to tore open some of the gifts himself. We bought him mostly books since we already knew my mother-in-law got him TONS of toys. I did get him a blue stuffed monkey. He loves it and wants to hold the monkey whenever he goes to sleep. :) He’d never really cared for a stuffed animal before but I guess time had changed.

I got a box of chocolate, a new computer mouse, two weights, and a handbag I was fantasizing for. Ya! :)

We went to my MIL after that. Sure enough the gifts under the tree were almost all Cyrus’. It took us a long time to open all the gifts for him and there were still two being hidden for later since he already had too many. He was totally overwhelmed!

Our new year’s eve is very low key but nice. We took Cyrus out for an afternoon walk at the park. It’s sort of cold but the scenery was beautiful: a frozen and snow-covered lake! Cyrus seemed to enjoyed walking on the snow very much.

We then went to have an early dinner at a Thai restaurant. He was begging to fuss but a big bowel of noodles saved our day. :b The couple next to our table had two boys and they told us there was a family-oriented new year eve event called “The First Night” was going on at the convention center. We were very curious and went there after dinner. It cost 20 dollars for two of us, which was a rip-off but we thought it may be fun for Cyrus.

It was a little bit late for his bed time but he did have a great time. He got a kicked out of the fair ride and its lights and all the kids running around. There was a program with people in children’s books character costumes. He was scared by them at first and then got used to it and started to running around, acting really hyper! We were so glad went decided to go there. It’s not as exciting as going to watch a ball drop or countdown but it was something more important as a family!
