Lilypie Fourth Birthday tickers Lilypie 1st Birthday Ticker

falling behind

Me. Not Cyrus of course.

With the tax season coming, I’m getting busy and busier at work. It’s hard to juggle between work and home and every little thing in life. Not to mention blogging. I can use 48 hours a day to cover everything I want to do and still get enough sleep for work next day.

I love my job and always feel guilty that I am not doing the best I can as a mother. I feel I’m missing out some of the most precious development and growth of my son. I even feel a little bit ashamed of myself sometimes, especially when I see how much time other mothers spend on their children.

Anyways…I am not here to ask for understanding or forgiveness. I am here to catch up with what’s going on recently in Cyrus’ life.

He caught the stomach flu three weeks ago. That night he woke up during the night and started crying. It’s not unusual for him to cry a little when he wakes up at night but that time it sounded differently. It sounded like he was in pain. DH went to check on him. Sure enough he threw up all over himself and the crib. It took us a while to clean up all the mess and changed him. He seemed a little bit pale and week. He also was quieter than usual. He only cried when he needed to puke but nothing came out. (All his dinner were out already.) He looked so innocent. Poor thing!

We followed the instruction from a nurse and only offered him Pedialite, water, crackers, and bread the next day. 24 hours later we thought to try to give him some milk again and he threw up half hour later. Thank goodness he was still nursing!

A couple days later, both DH and I caught the flu too. It was terrible. We both pucked at the same night and got so sick that we had to take a sick day from work. It’s so much work to watch a little child when both of you are sick.

His new thing now is “shaking his head.” I don’t think he quite understand the concept of the action. Sure, he will shake his head when we give him something he doesn’t want to eat. But he also shakes the head when I asked “do you love mommy?” I just hope he can learn to nod soon. I think I’d like that better. :D

For the past couple weeks, he’s been having a dramatic improvements on his language skills. He understands a lot of things we are saying but he finally started to try to imitate us.

Here are some of the words that he says and understands:
toe, poo, light, banana (say nana), frog (say fa), bird (say mei), milk, eye, foot, shoe, duck, goat, horse (say ho), book, ball, orange.

He also says lights and dogs in Mandarin.

Some words he would say after me: thank you (Mandarin),snow (Mandarin),blueberry (Mandarin),diaper, goggle, girl, lion.

It’s so much fun to see him learn to speak!

He used to pay more attention to people than animals but he started to show some curiosity on animals recently too. He loves birds. Every time he sees a bird flying by he would scream and his face would all light up! He saw some deer a couple weeks ago too.

It’s going to be so much fun next time we’re at a zoo.
