finally…an update
by Photobug Mom ~ May 20th, 2008. Filed under: Cyrus' growth.I am quite depressed right now but it’s been a month since I last updated here so I forced myself to write something.
I weaned Cyrus. He still asked for it once a while but I think he pretty much got over it. (I hope.) I DO miss nursing. I feel really guilty whenever he asks for it and tries to unbutton my shirt. One day he got so cranky (or tired) that he fell asleep in my arms. I think we both miss that physically-close relationship.
What had happened the past few weeks? Well, I guess the first thing comes to my mind is the incident at the daycare. We (almost) got kicked out of the daycare. The daycare is closing in June and the owner is planning on selling the house. They started some renovation like taking off the wallpaper and refinish the wall. I didn’t think it’s a big deal at first but one day DH came right to me and said “did you know that they are sanding?” We then all a sudden started worrying about lead hazard. I guess DH asked her about it and she told him it’s not a big deal. I then asked her again and she explained to me that there was only latex paint on the wall. She started getting annoyed by our questioning. I called some lead paint specialist as well as state health department. No one could give me a definite answer. I stupidly asked DH to check with her again and they got into an argument. DH went home and call the local health department and gave them the name of the daycare.
Next day just before I got out of work, DH called me and said we were given the two weeks notice. Obviously the government sent in someone to inspect the place and there was no doubt it’s because of our phone calls. DH told me that they thought it’s all his doing not me. I decided to stop by the daycare on the way home to see if I can change their minds.
After the conversation with them, I realized this incident wasn’t the only reason why they kicked us out. She basically said “We can’t put up with your husband anymore. He is impossible to please.” Though I thought they were a bit over-reacting, I 100 percent understood what they were saying. She mentioned how she thought it’s ridiculous that DH said it’s all me spoiling Cyrus and why Cyrus doesn’t listen sometimes.
Anyways, i apologized for what had happened and beg them to reconsider the two weeks notice. I know, we are going to change the place eventually but I simply didn’t expect it to happen so soon and this place is still cheaper. I think Sharon and Mike are very good people but the relationship between them and us somehow are getting a little bit too personal. Thank God she soon called me and told me that they’ll let everything go IF, from now on, I will be the one discussing issue with them, not DH.
DH of course wasn’t happy either. I was caught in between and had to pick up Cyrus everyday that week.
What else? Oh, we took Cyrus to this Italian restaurant we like for dinner and it was a big success. He was very good the whole time. Not sure if it’s because of all the people coming and going, or the TV in front of him, or the food. He ate everything we offered too: garlic bread with lots of spices and some hot pepper, ravioli with red sauce, fettuccine alfredo, and my calamari with red sauce. The owner’s mother was there. She saw Cyrus eating pasta and said “She is beautiful. I would like to have a picture of her eating the pasta and put it on the wall.” I told her it’s “he” and unfortunately no one had a camera. It was a fun time for sure!
May is a big month to me. Mother’s day, my birthday, and our anniversary. I got some really nice gifts. DH bought this beautiful card with the picture of a pregnant women’s statue for the mother’s day but he tore it during our big fight the night before my birthday. My MIL bought me a iTune gift card and a beautiful and expensive briefcase for my birthday. She is the best!
We took Cyrus to a library on my birthday and it was a lot of fun. We decided to borrow books from libraries instead of buying them. Cyrus doesn’t always like the book bought anyways. It’s more economical and environmentally sound. The library also has a very nice selection of children videos.
Cyrus is very addicted to Babar right now. It’s a cute movie and I used it especially in the morning when I need to get him ready to go and he is fighting or in the evening when I need to cook and he doesn’t let me. I know it’s bad but it’s almost like a necessary evil sometimes. We also let him watch Sesame Street, Super Why, and Curious George. But his favorite is still Babar.
I just wish I had more time to play with him and read to him instead of putting him in front of the TV.
