    Thursday, July 31st, 2008

First time to CN Tower. It’s quite windy and cold up there but we had a great time.

First time to the Niagara Falls. There were tons of people there and the bridge traffic was terrible. We only stayed for two hours but still paid for the whole day parking: $20. What a rip off. Cyrus wasn’t happy that he could only get to “see” the river and the falls but not being able to “touch” it.

He finally was happier when we let him down at the parking lot. He was playing with branches and got on a tree for the first time with the help from grandfather.

How Doctors Think by Jerome Groopman:

This is one of my Christmas gifts from my doctor brother-in-law. Very educational read. You’ll look at your doctor in a different way. Help you get the most out of your doctor’s visit. A lot of shocking facts. I haven’t finished it yet but will soon.

    2nd Chance by James Patterson:

This is an old book. Probably a lot of people have already read it. I am a big mystery fan but only read a couple of Patterson’s books. My co-worker let me borrow a few books of this “women’s murder club” series. I am half way through and hooked on it.

The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoesvsky:

I’ve bought this book for a few years but haven’t able to finish it. I know it’s a classic literature but somehow I haven’t got the patience to sit down and read it. This time I am hoping I can get through it.

See what other people are reading.

I know my age while I shop

    Monday, July 28th, 2008

I haven’t gone clothes shopping, for myself, for a long long time.

Last week, I felt the need to organize my closet and got rid of some clothes I haven’t worn for years. They are still good clothes but I simply don’t like the style anymore. (Or maybe the style doesn’t fit my age anymore.)

    Then I went shopping.

Just a couple years ago, I liked short skirts and clothes that show a lot of skin. I like the style and price at Gap and old Navy and similar kind of stores. A couple years later, now, my taste seems changed. I don’t know if it has anything to do with me being a mother. Those clothes at Gap don’t appeal to me anymore. The price is still good but the style looks too “amateur” or “unprofessional” to me. Am I becoming more and more conservative?

I used to think clothes at Ann Taylor and New York and company over priced and “old”. All a sudden they look great on me. The price aren’t bad either if they are on sale. Ann Taylor’s clothes are still more “serious” then I like but they are great for work. New York and Co’s clothes are my favorite now. They have casual outfit as well as more business looking ones.

I’d never walked in to Banana Republic before but I start to now. They are still way out of my budget but maybe I’ll get a couple of nice jackets/coats when they go on sale.

It’s funny how my taste on clothing changes. I guess where you shop shows your age too. Ha.
